Long-Term Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, and Environmental Stewardship Technologies

My research focuses on Natural Flood Management (NFM) and in particular on one technique: the engineered woody dam. The aim of my project is to investigate if woody dams can effectively reduce flood hazards by influencing flood peaks at a catchment scale, and modify flow velocities, sediment fluxes and habitat at the local scale thus yielding benefits in terms of biodiversity and functionality of the riverine macroinvertebrate communities.
