Oxford Long-Term Ecology Lab

Long-Term Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, and Environmental Stewardship Technologies

I am fascinated by rewilding as a tool for conservation. I find it deeply inspiring that nature holds the answer to so many of the questions confronting us – including climate change, soil degradation, biodiversity and human health.

My project aims to determine how establishing vegetation and free-roaming animals in a landscape can kickstart dynamic natural processes again and create novel ecosystems. I am using the Knepp Estate as a model rewilding programme to determine if there is an uplift in natural capital assets from rewilding and how the value of these assets varies through time and space.
