Spectroscopy Equipment Award
January 31, 2022
DPhil candidate Anna Lee-Jones was awarded a loan of spectroscopy equipment from the NERC Field Spectroscopy Facility in their allocation for spring/summer 2022:
My application to loan high resolution reflectance spectroscopy and fluorometry field equipment was approved by the FSF steering group earlier this month and prioritised for funding. The equipment will be used this summer in my ozone experiment in the Bangor growth domes to monitor how ozone damage can be detected at the leaf level using spectroscopy. Next growth season we plan to take our findings out into the field in mature trees, perhaps making use of the FSF’s UAV mounted spectrometers to survey whole canopies for ozone damage. The FSF support all kinds of environmental research and help investigators to collect and analyse spectroscopic data from a wide range of field settings, from volcanic islands to under water observations. I look forward to working with their enthusiastic team and learning from their expertise.
